RT. WBRO. ARTHUR CLAUDE BOTTOMLEY

DISTRICT GRAND MASTER 1962

Upon his resignation, Rt. WBro. Bhogilal Shah installed WBro. Arthur Claude Bottomley, the then Deputy DGM, as the District Grand Master for Bombay.

A portrait of Rt. WBro. Bhogilal Shah was unveiled by Rt. WBro. Bottomley after the Communication.

23 Lodges out of 51, having opted to join GLI, the new DGM’s first task was to ask his Board of General Purposes to take fresh stock of the situation.

The Assistant Secretary, WBro. M.V.S. Iyer was promoted as District Grand Secretary, which in later years established him as being one of the most efficient secretaries the District had.

It was very sad and shocking when news reached Bombay in December that Rt. WBro. Bottomley had passed away at Essen, Germany. He had gone for a holiday cum business trip in October to UK and Germany. Brethren remember his as a friend of junior Masons, ever ready to guide and assist in rituals and explaining several allegories behind them. He was as Dy. DGM a regular visitor of Bardi Lodge of Instruction (then actively working under Lodge Universal Brotherhood No. 3835).
