In September 1949, at a Special Communication of the DGL, WBro. J.S. Tilley was installed as District Grand Master by WBro. John George, Assistant DGM. WBro. R.N. Cooper was invested as Deputy DGM.
The year 1950, witnessed the exit in July of six Lodges stationed in Sind, all of which were transferred to Punjab (Pakistan). They were:
Lodge Union No. 767, Karachi
Lodge Industry No. 873, Hyderabad (Sind)
Lodge Sukkur No. 1508, Sukkur
Lodge Faith No. 2438, Manora (Sind)
Lodge Khan Bahadur B. Rajkotwalla No. 2531, Karachi and
Lodge Scinde No. 4284, Karachi
As against the removal of these six, two new Lodges were added to the District in the course of the year, namely:
Lodge Engineer No. 6964, Kirkee and
Lodge Ashok No. 7025, Bombay
In the result, the number of Lodges stood at 48.
The Most Worshipful Grand Laster, the Duke of Devonshire, dies in December 1950. A memorial service was held in Bombay by District Grand Chaplain, WBro. The Rev. Canon Arnold Bolton.
Lodge Republic No. 7078 was consecrated in March 1951 by Rt. WBro. J.S. Tilley.
The Grand Lodge withdrew its recognition of the Grand Lodge of Uruguay.
The Earl of Scarbrough (formerly known as Sir Roger Lumley) a former District Grand Master for Bombay was installed as Most Worshipful Grand Laster and the Earl of Derby as the Deputy Grand Master.
Portraits of Rt. WBro. Sohrab Davar, Past DGM and WBro. Palanji N. Daver Past DG Secretary were unveiled after the DGL meeting in March 1951.
Most Worshipful Bro. His Majesty King George VI died (1952).
The formation of Grand Lodge of Iceland and its recognition by our Grand Lodge was reported.
The District Grand Lodge of Northern India was consecrated by the DGM Madras.
Lodge Square and Compasses No. 7198 came into being in December 1952, raising the total of Lodges to 50.
The Rev. Canon Arnold Bolton was appointed Deputy DGM in place of WBro. Dr. R.N. Cooper who had resigned.
H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh, was initiated into Freemasonry in the Navy Lodge No. 2612 in 1953.
The following Lodges surrendered their Warrants in 1954:
Lodge Justice No. 2145, Abu Road
Lodge Rajputana No. 2800, Mt. Abu and
Lodge Katni No. 6189, Katni (which had been in abeyance)
